(Port) Wine of the month June 2019: Warre Vintage Port 1994
For the second time in a row a Warre Vintage Port is my Port of the month. This time the 1994 Warre Vintage Port stood above many on a review tasting in the UK with more than 20 Vintage Ports from the year. Knowing that some of the Ports might not show at their best for being in the sleeping or reductive phase, most participants were able to detect this. Completely opaque dark red color. Elegant and well balanced bouquet with redberry fruit and spicy notes, white pepper in the background. Soft tannins and complex, but elegant fruit – raspberry and cherry. Long and balanced aftertaste. 18+/20
